Gaalipata….a fun filled movie!!

Posted by sunilj on 02/3/08 1:08 AM

Last night myself and my friend Suresh went to watch Gaalipata movie. We went with very high expectation as this movie is directed by Yograj Bhat of Mungaru male fame. Though he didn’t disappointed us, but it wont be a phenomenal hit as Mungaru male. Again Bhat has showed his excellence in every frame of the celluloid. The maturity of the director shows how well he has managed to give equal importance to all three lead characters. Nowhere in the movie you will get a chance to take a break as it is so funfilled. The dialogue are exceptionally well and moreover Ganesh’s delivery made it even more catchy.

The story is all about 3 young lads who have fed up with Bengaluru’s cosmopolitan life wants a change and decided to move Mugilupete for sometime, where they will meet a family with 3 young girls and get engaged. Though nothing great about the story line but Bhat and his crew made it so good that you will enjoy each and every moment of this movie.

Camera work and soothing music stands out better than anything else in the whole movie. Jayanth Kaaykini has once again proved his mettle by giving such a wonderful song ಮಿಂಚಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಬರಲು ನಿಂತಲ್ಲೇ ಮಳೆಗಾಲ… which Sonu executed very well.
Sometimes you will feel like Bhat is still in Mungaru male hangover, as some of the sequences/dialogue are quiet same from that movie. Venu excelled in his awesome camera work which is another highlight of the movie.

Overall a very good fun filled entertaining movie… You will definitely regret if you miss this movie bcoz you wont get such movies often and often. We need to encourage these kind of movies which will take our Kannada cinema into the golden era of 60’s and 70’s.

I came out of the theatre humming ಕವಿತೆ ಕವಿತೆ ನೀನೇಕೆ ಪದಗಳಲಿ ……..ಕುಳಿತೆ!!!!!!

Hmmmmmmm!!!!

Chak De INDIA

Posted by sunilj on 09/7/07 10:06 AM

Finally King Khan is back with a bang!! After Swades and Paheli, this time with one more offbeat character where he plays as a coach of the Indian Women’s Hockey team. His role as a coach is considered as one of the most challenging character ever played by SRK.

In a country where Hockey game is treated as bad as it can be, Director Shimit Amin did in fact dared to chose this as main theme of his film. He has showed his brilliance in every frame and it even shows how meticulously he has done his research on this game. Thanks to his patience which made this movie so great to watch in every aspect.

Initially i was little bit hesitant to watch this movie which is fully loaded with Hockey stuff as i am basically Cricket enthusiast. But this movie is a eye opener for me which shows every technical details of the game that really made me to think twice before commenting on this game. Director has given equal attention to every actor without any discrimination that shows his prowess.

The Film is based on a real life character called kabir Khan (Played by SRK) who himself an Indian Hockey team captain which loses against Pakistan and he was inturn made a scapegoat for that loss. Kabir khan wanted to disprove all the allegations made against him and for this he opts a daunting task as to coach Indian Women’s Hockey team which is no where near the visible horizon. His only aim is to make this meek Indian team to win the Hockey world cup, which is next to impossible. You have to watch it to believe it.. its really an electrifying experience.

All actors(in fact Hockey players) are indeed putup a great show together, Dialogues are quite catchy esp sattar minute ka. We need to encourage these kind of movies otherwise we will get to see junk movies like JBJ,partner…etc. We really need to appreciate the producers(Yash raj) as well, as they dared to put money on these type of projects.
There is lot more to learn from this movie esp for our IHF, which is on the verge of precipitation.

A must watch for every Indian.. Chak De India!!!!

The Shawshank Redemption!!

Posted by sunilj on 09/5/07 10:51 AM

After long time, my mood is now set towards Hollywood Celluloid. Last night i did get an opportunity to saw this movie. A movie with a high voltage drama based on the legendary writer Stephen King. Earlier i didn’t knew that this movie is going to be my all time favorite.. really a gem.
This story is about a soft spoken Banker who is charged with the murder of his wife and her lover and his life in prison. Plot of the movie is here.
A powerful story of hope, friendship and strength. The Shawshank Redemption stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne and Morgan Freeman as Red. The original story Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption was written by Stephen King and appeared in the collection Different Seasons. Frank Darabont wrote the screenplay and directed the movie in 1994.

Mungaaru male!!

I think by now everybody would be soaked by this movie..
Wonder how can a movie without any big banner to name, without any big stars involved and the director already with 2 back to back flops in his 4 film career went on to become a greatest commercial hit in Kannada industry.
Hats off to Yogaraj Bhat, who really made this movie a phenomenon in film industry.
What one can watch in this movie.. well if i am not from this land, then i would say Music. Bcoz this is what i heard from all non-kannadigas who watched this movie.

Yup, u r right… i would say every bit of this movie is enjoyable. Take lyrics for that matter, after
Chi.Udayshankar , Jayanth kaykini is the only lyricist in kannada industry who took the audience over such a big storm. Thanks to Mano murthy for his soothing score.

Yogaraj bhat has used his 10 yr industry experience very carefully and shot this movie using all exotic locations of our state. Cameramen has showed his brilliance while shooting a song in Jog falls and one in north Karnataka.

Finally our comedy time Ganesh’s dialogues made all the difference to this movie. He proved what people expected from this guy…

A must watch for everyone..

A masterpiece of our generation after Bangarada manushya by annavru..
